Upset

The lower-ranked entity beat the higher-ranked one. The record and the ladder disagree.

Matsuo vs Dimple

BeatenDimpleMob Psycho 100 · rank 3

The upset is real, and the ladder still reads it correctly. Dimple at this point was the remnant of a spirit Mob had already broken once, riding in a stranger's body, nowhere near the golden form his rank is taken from. Matsuo's win measures the distance between a spirit's lowest point and its highest, not anything about Matsuo. The page records it because it happened.

The connecting record

shownMob Psycho 100 · vol. 5, ch. 42–43

Matsuo beat Dimple in Mob Psycho 100.

Dimple, then wearing a guard, outwitted Matsuo's first spirits but was overwhelmed when Matsuo let out more, and was sealed in Matsuo's jar.

Scar of the 7th Division — spirit keeper

Mangacomicanimation

Shut Dimple in a jar of a hundred evil spirits to eat one another, which Dimple came out of; Dimple then knocked him out in one blow. His strongest spirit burst against Reigen's fist. At the Asagiri mansion he helped Dimple through Mogami's barrier, and once Mogami left Minori's body he caught him in a flask — the flask a Claw soldier later broke.

Ekubo — upper-class evil spirit, later "Psycho Helmet"

Mangacomicanimationcontested

As Psycho Helmet he fed Seasoning City sweets tainted by the Divine Tree until most of it, Ritsu and Tsubomi included, was his, beat Teru and bound him inside the tree, and drained Mob's power while trading god-titled attacks with him in a golden form. Earlier, inside Musashi Goda's body, he overpowered Shibata of the Ultimate 5. He lost the tree fight by being trusted rather than beaten. Contested because the strength was the tree's, and because Mogami, he says, once beat him at full power.

Dimple on the Mob Psycho 100 ladder

What this does not settle

One fight in one work. It is the only result the record gives between these two, and it is evidence about that meeting and nothing wider — not a general matchup, not a rematch, and not a ranking of its own.

The ladder above it is argued from everything either of them has been shown doing; this page is argued from one citation.

Where the two disagree, the disagreement is the point, and it stays visible rather than being resolved by whichever of them happens to be on this page.
