It fits the placings and says less than it seems to. Sasuke goes in without the Rinnegan, after being told once to stay out of the way, and is put down in a single exchange; the eye that makes him a sixth-place fighter awakens in him while he lies dying from this. So the record measures Sasuke before the upgrade against Madara after his revival, and two places is a fair distance for that. The meeting with the Rinnegan on both sides was never finished.
