Does this death move the ranking?

Confirms the ladder

The higher-ranked entity killed the lower-ranked one. Record and ladder agree.

Piccolo vs Raditz

The victimRaditzDragon Ball · rank 18

One place apart, and a win assembled from three people. The beam was Piccolo's and so was the finish, but the shot needed a target that could not move: a four-year-old's headbutt had left Raditz too hurt to break a hold, and Goku kept him in it knowing the same beam would go through both of them. The two are placed from versions decades apart, so the order between them is the later film's doing. What this death fixes is the price of the first Saiyan on Earth: three fighters, and one of them dead with him.

The connecting record

Piccolo killed Raditz in Dragon Ball (manga).

The Special Beam Cannon went through Raditz and the Goku holding him from behind, mortally wounding both. Once he had heard enough, Piccolo finished off the dying Raditz; Goku died shortly after.

Thirty years of being written past, then a film hands him a new form and an actual result. His placement is a version question in the plainest terms: on the strength of the 1990s material he belongs several tiers lower, and on the strength of one 2022 film he does not.

Comfortably the weakest entry here and the reason the page exists. He brings the scouter into the story, reads two figures off it aloud, and establishes in one scene that power in this world is a measurable quantity — the premise every ranking argument since has inherited. His own figure is then the first demonstration of the problem: two numbers compete for him, and they come from different places. The lower one is derivable from dialogue in the story; the higher one, the one usually quoted, exists only in a guidebook. The very first power level in the franchise is already a disagreement between a panel and a book.

Raditz on the Dragon Ball ladder

What this does not settle

One death in one work. It is the only place the record puts these two in the same room, and it is evidence about that meeting and nothing wider — not a general matchup, not a rematch, and not a ranking of its own.

The ladder above it is argued from everything either of them has been shown doing; this page is argued from one citation.

Where the two disagree, the disagreement is the point, and it stays visible rather than being resolved by whichever of them happens to be on this page.
