It didn't stick

The record shows a kill. It was reversed, so the ranking does not move.

Cocytus vs Zaryusu Shasha

The killerCocytusOverlord · rank 5
The victimZaryusu ShashaOverlord · rank 22

The reversal here is an intake, of the kind Climb's would later be too. Cocytus fought the lizardmen alone on the Great Lake and Zaryusu was the last of them left — about the most a brief row at twenty-two can ask of its evidence. Then Ainz returned him, and he came back swearing fealty. Seventeen places is not in dispute, and the order would not move even had he stayed dead. What the record adds is that Nazarick can treat a beaten opponent as stock, and the one who lasted longest against a Floor Guardian was the one worth keeping.

Fought the lizardman chieftains and Zaryusu Shasha on the Great Lake by himself and killed each one who stood against him; Zaryusu, the last to fall, was revived by Ainz and returned swearing fealty. At the Kingdom's fall Brain Unglaus stepped into the road and asked him for a duel. Cocytus drove his halberd into the ground to draw a sword for it, and needed one stroke.

Zaryusu Shasha on the Overlord ladder

What this does not settle

One death in one work. It is the only place the record puts these two in the same room, and it is evidence about that meeting and nothing wider — not a general matchup, not a rematch, and not a ranking of its own.

The ladder above it is argued from everything either of them has been shown doing; this page is argued from one citation.

Where the two disagree, the disagreement is the point, and it stays visible rather than being resolved by whichever of them happens to be on this page.
